The hunting ground for special purposes, Fazan Beltinci, lies on the Pomurje plain and covers a total area of 15,167 ha, of which 14,005 ha is hunting area. The landscape or habitat of the hunting ground is strongly marked by the Mura River, which divides it into a larger part on the left bank and a smaller part, which is along the right bank, from Veržej to Razkrižje. Most of the hunting ground on the left bank consists of fragmented cultivated areas intertwined with hedges and smaller secluded woods, the smaller part of the hunting ground along the Mura River consists of a fairly well preserved, flooded woodland with swamps, oxbow lakes and tributaries.
In the area of LPN Fazan Beltinci, the fragmented structure of agricultural land has been partially preserved, which offers favourable living conditions for small game, especially pheasants, partridges and hares. Deer and wild boar are constantly present in the preserved larger areas of forest.
